The Village Church, an established organization with a strong global brand and digital content presence, came to us needing help with the redesign of their website and mobile app. Their digital experiences needed to match the new direction for the church and address user experience issues that had accumulated over the years. Before simply getting requirements and input from the client and moving straight to design, we knew we needed to look at the data and hear firsthand from existing staff and church members. This led to an initial strategy engagement where we did a combination of market research, user surveys, user testing and data analysis to better understand where the opportunities and areas of friction existed for users.

We knew we’d need a strong, simple UI/UX that could span across multiple devices and apps while bolstering the existing brand and the new vision and structure of the church. In the strategy phase, we learned that users consumed content, whether events, volunteer opportunities or resources, through the lens of specific ministries. This guided our designs for navigation, filtering and overall user experience. Data also showed us that usage spiked on Sundays so we worked to design seamless in-person companion features within the mobile app to serve members.
